Violin Making

In 2013 I apprenticed for a year at a violin workshop.

The violin I crafted fully on my own as the conclusion of the apprenticeship is still with me and brings me joy every day.

The violin is made traditionally with a book-matched maple back and spruce top. The silhouette resembles a Stradivarius while the f-hole is slightly longer and narrower to produce a bright yet mellow sound for the living room.

An image of the buddha of music and dance from the Dunhuang Murals was painted on the back under the clear varnish coat.
